SuperGel CF is 100% natural-origin, COSMOS approved emulsifier and oil thickener. Supplied as an easy-to-use liquid, it is perfect for clear gel-to-milk cleansers, and many other cosmetic formulations.100% natural-origin, COSMOS approved emulsifier and oil thickener based on sugar chemistry. Great for bath bombs!
SuperGel AOF is 100% natural-origin, COSMOS approved emulsifier and oil thickener. Supplied as an easy-to-use liquid, it is perfect for clear gel-to-milk cleansers, and many other cosmetic formulations.
SuperGel AOF can be used to disperse up to 5% essential oils or fragrance. Slowly stir the fragrance into the SuperGel using a propeller stirrer. The mixture should thicken into a gel/paste which will easily disperse into your aqueous base. Gels, creams and lotions made with SuperGel should be kept above pH 4.5 and below pH 8. Also, note that SuperGel only emulsifies the system, it will not add viscosity or stability to the water phase. Therefore it is important to add a rheology modifier to ensure the water phase is stabilized.
INCI: Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides, Aqua, Sucrose Laurate
Per the Manufacturer: Clarity is achieved when the refractive indexes of each of the raw materials add up. If your gel is not transparent is likely that some water has been lost during manufacturing. Add small amounts of water (drop by drop) until clarity is restored.
SuperGel is a cold process emulsifier for oil in water emulsions and also works as an oil thickener. It comes in liquid form making it easy to use. Oily gels formed with Supergel will instantly emulsify on contact with water. SuperGel holds oil in place in a stable micro-emulsion and when water is added the mix changes into a cream or a light lotion.
Differences and Tips for AOF and CF:
•Use 1:4 ratio of SuperGel to oil phase for SuperGel CF and AOF.
•For CF any oils can be gelled (including Silicones, sun filters, butters, waxes, esters, synthetic oils).
•For AOF only vegetable oils and vegetable based butters and waxes can be gelled.
•Add the oil very slowly into the SuperGel using a propeller stirrer on a fast speed. The oily gel will thicken rapidly and the stirring speed and height of the stirrer will need to be increased as more oil is added.
• Formulation must remain between pH 4-8 at all times.
• Can be used at either room temperature or at temperatures up to 80ºC.
